Nadan Koottu Curry Recipe







Ingredients :-


Yam /Chena  :- 300 grams
Plantain /Nentra Kaya : – 2 Nos
Carrot :- 1 No
Pumpkin :- 300gm
Channa dal / Kadala paruppu /Bengal gram :– 50 gm
Sharkara :- 3Nos
Turmeric powder : -1 tsp
Chilli powder :- 2 tsp
Coconut oil :- 100ml
Salt :-  as required



For grinding :-


Grated coconut  :– around  2 cup  (1 ½  coconut)









Method  of  preparation :-

  1. Cook the gram dal (kadalaparippu) by adding enough water till it  gets half cooked (for  pressure cooker – 5 whistles) and put aside
  2. Cut all the vegetables in an equilateral shape
  3. Mix the vegetables (  yam/chena , Plantain /Nentra Kaya ,Carrot ,Pumpkin  ) with chilly powder,turmeric powder ,salt and Sharkara and also add  water as needed
  4. Then  allow it to cook.
  5. Allow it to drain nicely and then remove it  from the fire and keep it in a pot
  6. Heat the oil in a pan and then add the grated coconut
  7. Fry the coconut  till it turns deep brown colour
  8. Then add the vegetables and dal in to the pan
  9. Mix it with the fried coconut and keep under fire for 30 seconds
  10. Then  remove it from the fire and transfer the dish into a serving plate.

      


 Serve  the  hot Nadan Koottucurry  with Nadan rice
